To the right are the most common questions we get asked about our planetarium. If you have any questions not shown, please do not hesitate to ask us
Q: Do you do shows via Zoom or Teams?
Although remote planetarium shows are nowhere near as awesome as lives one we do realise that these are difficult times. In response, we now do remote shows if requested via zoom. Please see our online show page.
Q: How much room do we need?
Ideally 7x7m with 4.3m of head height. We do have smaller domes for smaller schools that need 6x6m with 3m height, but we need to know in advance so we bring the right one. Please measure carefully.
Q: Do you need power?
We need access to two normal power supplies within 15m.
Q: Are you insured?
Yes. Our Public Liability Certificate as available on request.
Q: Do you have a risk assessment?
Our Risk Assessment as available on request.
Q: What about child protection?
Our staff have enhanced DBS certificates. Additional child protection measures can be found in our risk assessment.
Q: How long are planetarium shows?
- For early years, we suggest 15 mins.
- For KS1, we suggest 20 mins.
- For lower KS2, we suggest 30 mins.
- For upper KS2 and KS3, we suggest 45 mins.
- For KS4, KS5, and adult shows, we suggest an hour.
Please allow for a minimum of 10 minutes between shows.
Q: How long does the dome take to put up and take down?
We ask for 45 minutes to 1 hour (depending on planetarium size) at either end of the day for setup and take down. 30 minutes for setup and take down is also necessary if there is a need to use the space for lunch. Help is always welcome.
Q: We use the hall for lunch, can you take it down?
Yes – but we try to avoid it as it reduce the time we are doing shows. However, we can do a partial deflation which reduced the dome size a lot and save time.
Q: Can the planetarium go outside?
No. We no longer operate outside due to changes in regulation and increased costs.
Q: Do you do festivals?
Yes, we do.
Q: Do you have a minimum age?
We generally ask that children have to be over 4 for public events.
Q: How do I book?
Just email us with some dates. Once we have agreed on date we will send you a booking form. Once the form is accepted by us your booking is secure.
Q: Do you charge for travel?
No, we do a fixed price service.
Q: Can you supply seating?
Yes, we can but there is an extra cost.
Q: Do you need a deposit?
We do not ask for a deposit but please see the booking form for T&C regarding cancellation.
Q: How many can you seat?
All our domes seat a maximum of 35 people.
Q: How many sessions can you do in a day?
At maximum, we can do seven sessions in a day with a single dome. It will be fewer than this if we have to take down the dome for lunch.
