Planetarium shows from ages 4 upwards

At Starlight STEM we pride ourselves on the quality of our planetarium shows.

It doesn’t matter if you use our fully excessable 4.2m high negative pressure dome or our smaller 3m high positive pressure dome, our HD projectors and state for the art planetarium software will give you a great experience. All our presenters are experts in the field, narrate the show live and love answering questions from everyone (even the grown ups!)

Note that our planetarium shows are different from our workshops. You may book the planetarium for half a day and a workshop for the other half but the workshops are NOT part of our planetarium activities.

Below are examples of our standard shows. We are more than happy to cover some extra detail if requested. Just let us know.

Live Shows

Solar System Deep Dive

Think you know the Solar System? Think again.

Beyond the eight planets lies a world of fire and ice. In our Solar System Deep Dive, we’re going beneath the surface. We’ll witness the violent dynamics of the Sun, hunt for hidden oceans on distant moons, and ask the ultimate question: Where else could life be hiding?
This is a live-narrated journey—no scripts, just real science and your questions answered.

Solar System Tour

Ditch the textbooks—we’re going to space!

Bring the classroom to life with A Live Tour of the Solar System. This isn’t just a show; it’s a dynamic, human-guided journey designed specifically to cover the KS2 space curriculum.
From the rocky terrain of Mars to the swirling storms of the gas giants, we’re exploring it all in an immersive 360° environment. Best of all? It’s fully interactive, with a live Q&A throughout. Bring your toughest questions! Perfect for Year 3–6 students (and curious adults!)

Sun, Moon and Earth

Their very first trip to the stars!

Are you looking for a magical way to introduce your little ones to the wonders of the world? Join us for Sun, Moon and Earth, a gentle, live-narrated discovery show designed especially for Key Stage 1 and Early Years. We’ll meet our "celestial family" to find out why the Sun is so warm, why the Moon is so magical, and what makes our Earth such a special place to live. It’s fun, interactive, and perfectly paced for curious young minds. Ideal for ages 3–7

The Infinite Universe

Everything you see—the stars, the planets, the distant galaxies—is only 5% of the story.

Join us at Starlight Planetarium for "The Infinite Universe," a live deep-dive into the invisible forces that shape our reality. From the mysterious grip of dark matter to the relentless expansion driven by dark energy, we’re stepping beyond the visible spectrum. No fluff, just pure cosmic exploration and a live Q&A to answer your biggest "what if" questions.

The Life of Stars

They are born, they live, and they die—often in spectacular fashion.

Join us for The Life of Stars, a live-narrated exploration of the epic life cycles of the cosmos. We’re moving beyond just identifying constellations to dive into the foundational astrophysics of how stars are created in nurseries and what happens when they face their explosive ends. This is a profound journey for adults and students alike, featuring a live Q&A to help you wrap your head around the most exotic objects in the universe. Live, Expertly Narrated

The Sky Tonight

Never look at the night sky the same way again.

When you look up at night, what do you see? Beyond the pinpricks of light lies a map of human history and cosmic wonder. Join us for The Sky Tonight, a sophisticated, live-guided tour of the visible universe.
We’ll help you navigate the constellations, spot deep-sky objects, and identify the distant galaxies currently gracing our sky. No scripts—just a live expert showing you exactly what’s "up there" right now.
Fully interactive with Live Q&A

Pre-recorded Shows

Einstein's Gravity Playlist

The Universe isn't just a sight to see—it’s a symphony to hear.

Ever wondered what a black hole sounds like? Join Lucia in Einstein’s Gravity Playlist as she explores the ripples in spacetime known as gravitational waves.
Discover how we’ve finally learned to "hear" the hidden music of the cosmos, from colliding stars to the echoes of the Big Bang. It’s a whole new way to experience the universe under the dome.

Explore the Sun - Sunstruck

Experience the fury of our closest star.

We see it every day, but do we really know it? Sunstruck takes you on a high-octane journey into the heart of the Sun. Discover how our star was born, how it supports life on Earth, and how its massive solar flares can impact our technology and power grids. It’s a "full-dome" experience that puts you right in the middle of the action.

From Earth to the Universe

We often see the stars from the ground looking up. Now, see them through the eyes of the European Southern Observatory (ESO).

"From Earth to the Universe" is a world-class fulldome production that bridges the gap between complex astrophysics and breathtaking cinematography. Directed by Theofanis Matsopoulos and featuring a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack by Johan B. Monell, this show is a testament to human curiosity and our quest to understand the "unimaginable."
Don’t just learn about the universe. Experience it.

Out There - The Quest for Extrasolar Worlds

For millennia, we thought Earth was the center of everything. Today, we know we’re just one star among billions.

Join us for Out There, an immersive journey into the search for extrasolar worlds. From the primitive sci-fi of our ancestors to the cutting-edge space missions of tomorrow, we’re exploring the surfaces and oceans of distant moons and planets.
Are we the only life in the cosmos, or just the first to look "out there”?

The Sun - Our Living Sun

The heart of our solar system, like you’ve never seen it before.

The Sun has supported life on our planet for billions of years, but we’re only just beginning to understand its true nature. The Sun: Our Living Star reveals the amazing story of our star—from its fiery birth to its role as a cosmic powerhouse.
Experience the breathtaking surfaces of the Sun in immersive detail and see how its energy flows through every living thing on Earth.

Two Small Pieces of Glass

How two small pieces of glass changed everything.

Four hundred years ago, a simple adjustment to a spyglass opened our eyes to an infinite universe. Join us for Two Small Pieces of Glass, a stunning full-dome journey through the history of the telescope.
From Galileo’s first peek at the moons of Jupiter to the massive observatories of today, see how we’ve used glass and light to gaze further into the past—and into our future.
